Building your own AR-platform firearm gives you full control of the ergonomics and suitability for your chosen application. When your goal is creating something that fits you perfectly, you want to start with the right base components.
A matched receiver set for your AR-15 or AR-10 starts you off on the right path. These premium sets offer perfect alignment and color-matched finishes for a gun that looks as good as it shoots.
Explore our inventory to find anodized and nickel boron receiver sets in various configurations, including options in ceramic color finishes, with and without handguards, and customized for 9mm AR builds.
AR receivers are produced in one of two ways — forging or machining from a block called a billet. We sell AR-15 and AR-10 receiver sets in both styles.
A forged receiver is made by heating the aluminum and hammering it into the rough shape of the final product, then machining the critical dimensions. This process is cost-effective, but affords no real creativity in the shape.
A billet AR upper or lower is machined in its entirety. This process involves more time and labor, but allows for greater customization in the design and aesthetics of the finished product.
Both forged and billet AR receiver sets will provide a reliable base for your firearm. Our billet sets offer more aggressive styling and a unique look, while a forged set will be kinder to your budget.
A premium coating like our proprietary NiB-X® nickel boron keeps an AR receiver cleaner and better protected from environmental factors for a gun that runs in any conditions. This hard, naturally slick coating resists carbon buildup and promotes excellent reliability.
NiB-X® is the product of years of research refining the inherent properties of nickel boron and creating the perfect formula for finishing firearms. Investing in one of our matched receiver sets with a NiB-X® coating is the best way to prime your AR build for performance from the first shot.
Because we’re experts in firearm coatings, we also provide a classic black anodized AR-15 set with our Type 3 hard coat finish for shooters who want to keep it traditional. If you’d rather have something more personal, we’ve got an AR-15 receiver set with a NiB-X® base ready for your choice of colorful ceramic topcoat. This set gives you all the benefits of our nickel boron formula with the addition of colors like Aztec Teal, Marine Corp Red and Burnt Bronze.
Since an AR’s lower receiver is technically “the gun,” these sets must be sent to an FFL. If you’re new to that process, check out this quick guide.
If you want to customize the build on your own, we provide a selection of handguards as well. You’ll also find bolt carrier groups, parts kits, charging handles and plenty of other AR components we can ship directly to you, including bundles.
