9mm AR SBRs, Rifles and Pistols

Though the AR platform is best associated with the .223/5.56 round, it can accommodate many calibers with the right adjustments. The switch to the classic 9mm Luger is one of the more popular of these adaptations. WMD Guns designs, manufactures and sells 9mm AR rifles, pistols and short-barreled rifles (SBRs) that unite the modularity of the AR-15 with the low-recoil efficacy of this fan-favorite cartridge.

Advantages of a 9mm AR

The 9mm has proved effective as a self-defense cartridge, as it offers ample stopping power without being prone to overpenetration, especially when produced as a hollow point. The round also generates relatively low recoil. 

These characteristics make a 9mm AR-15 perfect for home defense, where the weight of the AR design further offsets recoil and enhances the user’s ability to achieve consistent shot placement. When paired with hollow point ammunition to limit the risk of overpenetrating, a 9mm AR is an excellent tool for defending oneself in a confined space. 

WMD Guns 9mm AR designs offer the ability to use extended Glock-compatible magazines to further capitalize on these capabilities. 

9mm Rifle and Pistol Builds

Current laws state that a rifle must have a barrel measuring at least 16 inches in length and an overall length of 26 inches. Our 9mm rifles are fully compliant with these regulations. 

An AR pistol can be shorter in either or both respects, but it cannot have a buttstock attached. If a stock is present, the gun becomes an SBR, which is illegal to own without possession of the proper paperwork from the ATF. 

WMD Guns can build one of our 9mm BEAST® firearms in any of these three configurations. If you want an SBR, you’ll need to provide your tax stamp information.
