Building a truly custom AR is highly rewarding, and that usually involves a stripped upper receiver. A stripped upper allows you to choose all your small parts and add custom details without the waste of pulling out a bunch of stock pieces you may never use.

Upper Receiver Styles We Sell

The typical AR-15 upper is forged aluminum and features a forward assist, ejection port door, and pronounced brass deflector. We offer this style in NiB-X® nickel boron and NiB-X® under a ceramic topcoat in the color of your choice. For a coordinated upper, opt for a package with a matching forward assist and ejection port cover assembly (EPCA) already installed — available in colored ceramic and nickel boron.

While the forward assist and EPCA are part of the classic AR look, some shooters consider them unnecessary and would prefer a build without them. If you’re part of that group, we’ve got you covered. Our billet slab-style upper eliminates the forward assist and EPCA mount while including a sleeker brass deflector for an aggressive, low-profile look. 

You can order our slabside stripped uppers in silver NiB-X® nickel boron or with your choice of ceramic color topcoat. We also have a lefthanded stripped upper in the slabside style.

All WMD Guns stripped uppers include M4 feed ramps for easy feeding and will require barrels with compatible barrel extensions. 

About WMD Guns Receiver Coatings

All of our stripped AR uppers feature our NiB-X® nickel boron coating for performance and longevity. This coating registers a 70+ on the Rockwell C scale and is naturally lubricious, meaning it minimizes friction within the receiver for smooth cycling. 

These characteristics make cleaning inside your AR upper much easier than it would be with lesser coatings. When carbon accumulates on NiB-X® as a byproduct of shooting, you can wipe it away easily rather than needing solvents and elbow grease. It’s also naturally resistant to corrosion and heat damage, and proven to resist chipping, scratching and flaking. 

On top of all that, a nickel boron AR upper will have an attractive silver finish you just can’t miss. However, it’s also an excellent base for other coatings, which is why we’re able to offer receivers with ceramic topcoats. Choose from over 20 ceramic colors for your stripped upper, including Marine Corp Red, Battle Grey or OD Green.
